FHS Football Outplays the Past

Updated: Jun 17

Football sets the standard for bringing the school spirit and support out for our school sports. They were able to start the season off very well, starting off 3-0 for the first time since before 2010. After a minor slide falling to 3-3, they were able to bounce back against Sayreville on the road with a score of 22-20, including a game-winning touchdown.

To check in on their season, a few of their players will be interviewed here to ask some questions.

Q: How is your season going so far?

Christian L.: “The season is going pretty good so far. We had a lot of bumps down the road, but we’ve been able to persevere and make history.”

Ziyon W.: “The season is going very well; a lot of chaos, but we expected it. I’m just glad we are winning and exceeding expectations.”

Q: What teams that you think the team has to look out for the rest of the season?

Christian L.: “As far as the regular season goes, I don’t think there’s a team we need to look out for.”

Ziyon W.: “No teams... except the Franklin Warriors.”

Q: What do you project for the rest of the season?

Christian L.: “I see the team finishing the regular season 6-3 and making the

playoffs for the first time since 2012.”

Ziyon W.: “That will have us at 6-3 and ready for the playoffs.”

Q: Are there any underclassmen on the team that you think can have a big impact on the team in the future?

Christian L.: “I think the freshman Mike Rogers will have a huge impact over the next couple years. He’s one of our starting runningbacks, and he’ll definitely be a top-ranked RB in his class soon.”

Ziyon W.: “QB1 Jahnaad Cady has had a significant impact on our team. He has his ups and downs but he has a bright future.”

Q: What will you [seniors] miss the most about the team?

Christian L.: “Something I’ll miss about the team is how much fun we’re able to have even when something isn’t going our way.”

Ziyon W.: “Something I’ll miss is going out there and going to war with my brothers and playing with crew.”

It is up to the Franklin Football players to take this team far in the playoffs, capping a historical season for the school.
