3-in-1 Article: All the Sides of the 2025 FHS Homecoming Game

Written by Storm Knight

Franklin High School played Monroe in an exciting homecoming game on October 17th at Franklin High School. It was a great game from Junior Jah'naad Cady and sophomore Michael Rogers who have shown great effort on the field thus far this season. The homecoming game is one of the most attended games of the season by not only students within the school but alumni who also come back to witness the game. It was a wonderful turn out with a packed stadium full of buzzing fans.

The evening began by honoring the seniors of the football team, cheer team, and the FHS Marching Band. As the night continued on before kickoff, the Aviation club made an appearance as they flew over the football field in student flown planes. As the night went on the Warriors put up an impressive performance, and by halftime, the Warriors were up 16-0.

At halftime the Warrior Dance Team, Cheer team, and Marching Band kept the energy up with three amazing performances. Franklin High School was also celebrating their 20th year anniversary and was doing so by honoring all students who've walked these halls before, not only athletic alumni.

By the end of the game the Warriors were victorious and beat the Monroe Falcons with a score of 40-22, bringing the warriors record to 4-4 for the season.

In a post-game interview with Mr. Dragonetti (one of the assistant coaches), I asked

“How do you feel the Warriors played tonight?”

To which he responded saying that he believed that his team played really well that night. He says that offense has played a really good season and he was confident in their next week game against the North Brunswick Raiders.

The Warriors have had a great season and this game only highlighted this. With everyone in the stands and alumni on the field, Warrior Pride really shined through on this Friday Night Lights.

On Thursday, October 17, Franklin High School had its 2025 Homecoming football game against Monroe at 6 p.m..

We interviewed Hamid Abu, a senior in the school band. He goes to every game and always says they’re a lot of fun, especially when we win. When I asked him how he thinks the homecoming football game will go, he said, “I think the football game will be packed with a lot of spirit and excitement especially since most of the people there are running for homecoming,” and for people going to their first homecoming game, “they’ll see how people have a lot of good energy and school spirit and they’ll realize that football games are fun.” It's clear that it’s going to be a really fun night for everyone.

When October 17th finally came, everyone dressed in school gear, or school colors, (blue and gold) to show some school spirit. Candidates for the homecoming court also came to represent themselves and their school.

I asked Hamid some questions before the game started to see his point of view on how everything would go. I asked him how many people he thought will show up to support the team/and or school, and he thought “a good amount [would come], especially since it’s homecoming weekend and it’s most likely that some alumni will be coming back for the school's 20th anniversary.” I also asked him what the school band will be doing today, and he said “they'll be doing their halftime performance called 'Empire City'.” It seems like this game, the band will be going all out.

It was also senior night for the band, for the football players, dance team, and cheerleaders. It went amazing, people had posters, flowers, gifts, etc.

When the night came to an end, Franklin High School won the football game, with a score of 40-22! Our school has been really putting in the work this football season.

Our school really showed out this game, everyone there was filled with school spirit. It was such a fun experience and it seems like everyone who went enjoyed themselves.

The Franklin High School Football Team had their homecoming game on October 17th at 6pm against Monroe High School on their home field. Whether or not the team would win The football team has some promising starters such as 17 year old Jah'naad Cady, 15 year old Michael Rogers, and 18 year old Amir Glover. Some background information that we have gathered is that Monroe has lost their last 5 games, on the other hand Franklin has won 2 of their last 5 games. Also in previous years Franklin has always lost against Monroe so we will see if this year will have the same outcome, but Franklin's season has been looking up as they have won 3 games this season.

Franklin won their homecoming football game against Monroe with a score of 40-22. It was a very good game with nice plays from everyone including some thrilling runs, catches and interceptions. Some of the players that stood out are Jah’naad Cady, Michael Rogers, Rahmel Barr and Amir Glover. Franklin started off up in the first quarter then soon were up by 16 as Monroe had scored in the second quarter.

When talking to Amir we asked how he felt that this was his last Homecoming game as a senior and he said, “It was a good game and I’m happy we could win right before Homecoming”. It was nice to see that he enjoyed one of his last games and that everyone had good spirits going into Homecoming. When speaking with Micheal Rogers,  Michael said, “It felt good to play today and I am glad that we could win, I also think that we had a good mindset going against Monroe because this game could have gone either way.” It was nice to see they did very well this game and hopefully they will do very well for the last games of the season. We also asked Jah’naad Cady, the teams QB, how he felt about the game, and he said that he felt “really good because we were doing good by half time and it felt nice to know we have a very good shot at winning this game. Also I think we played a really good game, and even though we were doing well we didn't give up and kept putting our all into this.” Franklin's team did really well tonight and it was really refreshing to see the game unfold. Especially with a huge student section there to show support and watch the game.
