CLUB SPOTLIGHT: Red Cross Club

Have you ever seen a report on the news and wished you could do something to help? Well, now you have a chance to here at Franklin High School with the Red Cross club! Run by Ms. Levine, this club aims to help those in need and give back to the community. They have events for students to participate in every month and do fun activities, too!

This club’s president is John Lam. This club consists of a mix of 15-20 Franklin High school students. When asked why John Lam decided to join Red Cross he said, “I like to help people and see smiles on people’s faces so Red Cross was a good opportunity to do that because not only can you help people in need but spread joy and happiness, as well.”

In December, an event was held at the Menlo Park Veteran Center where members of the club had gone to help with a Christmas party for the veterans. Not only was this experience fun, but club members also talked to many elders and heard their stories.

“I enjoyed [the event] so much. The veterans were so friendly and I can’t wait to go next year!” says one of the volunteers, Sarala Thompson.

The Red Cross club meets alternating Thursdays in A204 and new members are always welcome!
