Aman Srivastava writes about the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey

It is a historic moment for New Jersey as it is preparing to host the prestigious event of the 2026 World Cup final on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The stadium is easily accessible by public transportation and is located near New York City, making it a perfect venue for this grand event.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in three countries - The United States, Canada, and Mexico - and will also have 48 nations competing in it, which is a big change from the 32-nation format it had before. MetLife Stadium has already hosted the Super Bowl in 2014 and the Copa America Centenario in 2016, so it is experienced in hosting significant events. However, the World Cup Final is on a completely different level, as it can be viewed by almost 1.5 billion people worldwide. Therefore, it is necessary that everything goes according to plan.
Unfortunately, MetLife Stadium has fallen short in some standards like having no rooftops, as the other two stadiums in contention of hosting the World Cup final have rooftops on them and are also more technologically advanced. The turf in MetLife stadium has also come under major scrutiny, as it is artificial, and FIFA has laws that ban matches from being played on such a kind of turf. The people in MetLife Stadium will have to change their turf into grass instead which will cause major renovations around the stadium.
Many people have questioned FIFA's choice of selecting MetLife Stadium as the host of the World Cup Final. However, only time will tell if their decision was right or wrong.
