Kerrigan Peterson reports on the Franklin High School 2023 Homecoming.

The FHS Homecoming Dance was announced to students on September 12th. The football game, which took place on October 13th, and the Homecoming Dance on the 14th were two of the biggest events for the FHS student body. It’s the first Homecoming since 2019, with over 700 students in attendance at the “Under The Stars” dance. In preparation for Homecoming Week, the FHS Newspaper interviewed students and student-athletes on their opinion about homecoming.
The Warriors Football team prepared for the homecoming game constantly, with practices six days a week. When asked about how the team deals with pressure and how it reflects in practices, Frankie Flores, Right Tackle said “We are dealing with it in a very good way, we just had a really good practice”. When asked how players get encouraged before the game, another FHS Football player (who would like to remain anonymous) said, “More people will probably come, and we’ll have more drive to win.”
Despite the fact we lost (0-35); the student section supported their school with their constant cheering, playing with the balloons, and supporting the FHS concession stand. The concession stands sold Franklin gear, snacks, and fan favorites like hot chocolate and french fries. Even Hunterdon Central spectators couldn’t stay away! Although we lost, students still were able to show school spirit at the Homecoming Dance. Students enjoyed food, music, and danced, while waiting for the homecoming court to be announced.
