Elijah John writes about the NBA championship and the close call for the top team.

Recently, the most important possession in Houston basketball history happened in the national championship. With 5 seconds left on the clock Houston needs to get a shoot off and hope for a miracle to beat Florida. Even though this is one of the most important games in both schools’ history it seemed like both teams didn’t show up. In a battle of defense which team will come on top? Will it be a defensive stop on the last possession or a three to win the game?
Florida and Houston each shot below 25% from 3-point range and shot a combined 49 3 pointers. Walter Clayton Jr. who had played heroics for Florida in many games before the championship was not himself to say the least. He shot 1-7 from three point range but he did make up for it on the defensive side of the ball. We honestly should have seen it coming. Houston was known for their stellar defense and it has always been above average.
One player from Florida team despite offensive woes seemed to not be able to miss. Will Richard scored 18 points and shot 50% from the field. He led Florida to a dramatic win. Houston had the ball with a chance to take the lead or tie the game but instead of shooting it, the Houston player jumped but didn’t shoot or pass. The player could not touch the ball so he turned it over. This capped a heartbreaking way to loss for Houston to not even get a shoot off with time on the clock.
