Every year, there are two school band concerts, one in the winter and one in the spring for Franklin High School. What is new, is this district band showcase that happened on the 22nd of January.
According to Mr. Berz, the FHS band director, the marching band played in the concert, as well as other school bands, such as the EAS band, PMS band, FPS band, FMS band, SGS band, and the CRS band.
Mr. Bertz stated, when discussing the goals of the event, “This is going to show the younger kids that they should continue in the band and not drop out of it because it’ll get more exciting as the years pass by for them. This concert will impact Franklin in a different, yet good way,” said Mr. Berz.
Mr. Chmiel, High School Principal, reflects on the event by saying, “The turn-out of families was stupendous. Congratulations to Dan Berz and Eric Diaz as well as their colleagues from the other district schools. What a way to start something new!”
This is a historic event for Franklin as the school has hosted a District Orchestra Showcase for years but never a District Band Showcase.
With over 350 students from elementary to high school participating, the event was sure to stand out.
