Justin White reports on the exciting matchups taking place this year in the NFL playoffs.

After a long 18 weeks with many interesting storylines, the NFL Playoffs are here! The Kansas City Chiefs look to repeat as Super Bowl Champions for the third year in a row, while the NFC #1 seed Detroit Lions aim to make it to their first Super Bowl. New Orleans will be hosting Super Bowl 59 on February 9, with hopes for an exciting game.
This year’s playoffs, on paper, had the most unexpected potential in years. Many upsets were likely to happen in the Wild Card Round, with the Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders, and Green Bay Packers beating the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Philadelphia Eagles, respectively. After three disappointing QB performances, the Washington Commanders were the only team to come out on top with an upset win. The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens also comfortably won their games against the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Divisional Round games didn’t disappoint either. Despite questionable calls headlining the Chiefs-Texans game, the weekend featured close games, with the Eagles winning 28-22 over the Rams and the Bills winning 27-25 over the Ravens.
The biggest story of the weekend, though, was a surprising upset from the Commanders against the #1 seed Lions, winning 45-31. This set up the #1 seed Chiefs against the #2 seed Bills, continuing an entertaining rivalry. Sensational rookie Jayden Daniels, becoming the 6th rookie QB to make it to the conference championship game, will lead the #6 seed Commanders against the #2 seed Eagles. After two upsets in the playoffs and many one-score wins, this will be an exciting game. Then, after tough efforts from the Commanders and Bills, the Eagles and Chiefs will once again face off in the Super Bowl, beating the Commanders 55-23 and the Bills 32-29, respectively.
The Eagles had a convincing win over the Commanders, with 7 rushing touch- downs and 4 takeaways on the day. The Chiefs, despite some help from the referees, make it to their 3rd Super Bowl in a row, potentially becoming the first team to win 3 straight. After polling FHS students, 53% believed the Philadelphia Eagles would win. One-third of students believed that Saquon Barkley would win the Super Bowl MVP, while 47% of students believed it would be Patrick Mahomes.
