Aira Casas reports on who's up for an award for this year's Oscars.

As this year’s award shows have begun with shows like the Golden Globes and the Emmys, next month we will see Hollywood’s Biggest Night of the year. The 96th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, is an annual awards ceremony that nominates and awards films, actors, music/scores, etc in 2023. The 96th Academy Awards are scheduled to air on March 10, 2024, broadcast by ABC, taking place in the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, California.
Nominations were announced in January 2024, with films like ‘Oppenheimer’ earning 13 nominations, ‘Poor things’ earning 11, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ earning 10, and ‘Barbie’ earning eight. And actors and actresses like Bradley Cooper, Cillian Murphy, Emma Stone, and Lily Gladstone have been nominated for best actor or actress. Actress Lily Gladstone is the first Native American actress to be nominated for the Best Actress category, and according to ‘Variety’, 81-year-old Martin Scorsese “made history by becoming the oldest directing nominee.” ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Barbie’, ‘Past Lives’, ‘Poor things’, and more all have been nominated for Best Picture.
While this year’s nominations have some record-breaking and historic nominations, there were also surprises and snubs, as well as snubs that were met with controversy. Overall, this is typically normal to have controversies like this when nominations are announced.
If you still want to know who won an Oscar, then tune in on March 10th on ABC at 7:00 p.m. EST!
