This Valentine’s Day, two student organizations are making it their mission to spread love and kindness beyond the walls of our school. FHS Warrior News partnered with Key Club to create handmade Valentine’s Day cards for local senior citizens, bringing joy to those who may need it most. The collaboration began when the Newspaper Club approached Key Club with the idea of creating a community service project that combined creativity and compassion.

At our meeting on Tuesday, members from both organizations gathered in the C305 after school, cutting, gluing, and writing heartfelt messages. From vibrant hearts to personalized notes, each card is a unique expression of care. The project has also been an opportunity for students to connect with one another while working toward a shared goal.

The completed Valentines were delivered to Somerville Senior Citizens Inc. on February 13th. Staff at the center are thrilled about the gesture. “Holidays can be a lonely time for some of our residents, and these cards will remind them that they are loved and appreciated,” said Club Advisor, Ms. Moyer.

This collaboration highlights the power of student-led initiatives to make a positive impact on the community. As Valentine’s Day approaches, these students remind us that love is best expressed through actions. Whether it’s a card, a smile, or a kind word, there’s always a way to brighten someone’s day.
