Lucio Benamer shares his opinion on the lunch offered by Franklin High School.

It’s not surprising that the majority of students believe lunch at Franklin High School is disgusting. The fact that the school describes the meals as “nutritious” on their website is an insult to food worldwide. School lunch is consistently being thrown out every day because nobody wants to pay $2.65 for a meal that isn’t good. The lunch ladies tell the students to take a fruit, but many don’t eat it. The majority of fruit taken by students is thrown away anyway.
Franklin High School lunch is about 30 cents more expensive than elementary school lunch, despite it sharing the same portion sizes. FHS students have decided to take this lunch issue into their own hands. There have been countless instances where students have ordered DoorDash or Uber Eats in order to avoid eating school lunch. Sometimes, instead of people ordering Uber Eats, they will spend money at the snack counter for bare minimum sustenance. If students are stooping this low for a meal, that’s enough proof that the lunch isn’t even worth it.
The school closing the snack counter about 10 minutes before the end of lunch shows that too many students are relying on snacks for sustenance rather than the actual lunch. It appears that even the school understands that the lunch is bad, but they refuse to do anything about it. The district is too busy floundering at everything else to do anything meaningful. It is highly unlikely that FHS lunch will ever be fixed within the lifetime of its students.
