The Future Of Work: How AI Is Changing Jobs Around the World

Written By: Maxwell Ferguson

From factory workers to journalists, artificial intelligence is transforming the way people work around the world. As machines and algorithms take on more tasks once done by humans, countries everywhere are trying to balance new technology with the need to protect jobs.

AI is helping both big and small businesses become more efficient and personalized. However, it’s also raising some chilling questions about what the future of employment will look like. In schools and workplaces across the country, people are already noticing changes that we would not have seen four years ago. For example, students are using AI as learning tools. On one hand, this can help students write and study. On the other hand, it can also be a tool for students to cheat and avoid doing work.

To learn more about how AI is influencing education and the workforce, I spoke with FHS History Teacher Mr. Sorg to share his thoughts and perspective: “AI can handle tasks that used to take hours, like analyzing data or writing reports. That also means people need to focus more on creativity and problem solving and communication that AI can't solve.”

While Mr. Sorg thinks AI could put many jobs at risk, he also sees potential in the online tool. He explained, “If we work with AI instead of against it can be a powerful tool, but if we just ignore and brush away how it's changing our everyday lives, we could potentially see some jobs go at risk.”

When it comes to students, Mr. Sorg himself believes AI is a useful tool but only if used wisely. He states, “AI can make learning more personalized, but we still have to make sure students can think for themselves and use their creativity they were gifted with naturally.”

AI is changing how the world works and operates, from classroom to companies. As Mr Sorg stated: “The key is adapting to it. People need to use AI as a tool - not a future threat to employment.”
