Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu, was an awesome movie! Based on the super popular Broadway musical, it tells the story of Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda (the Good Witch) before Dorothy comes to Oz.  It's really cool because it shows a different side of the witches that you might not know about.

The movie is about how Elphaba, who is super smart and kind-hearted, is misunderstood because of her green skin and how she becomes the “wicked” witch. Glinda, on the other hand, is popular and bubbly. The two become friends in an unexpected way. The whole story shows how things aren’t always what they seem, and sometimes, people who might look wicked, may actually be misunderstood. The music in Wicked is amazing, fans were super excited to hear some songs like "Defying Gravity" and "Popular!”

They’re really catchy and tell a lot of the story through song, which makes everything feel magical. Adding to this magic, the costumes and special effects were also super cool, especially with all the mystical events that happen in Oz. Film creator, Jon M. Chu created sets and props using practical effects, rather than relying heavily on CGI, in hopes to extend the film’s longevity, as CGI often quickly becomes dated.

What fans were most excited about is seeing how the movie brings the world of Oz to life. The musical made it look super colorful and fun. Overall, Wicked, the movie, was really fun and magical, with great music, awesome characters, and a cool backstory to The Wizard of Oz. It’s one of those movies you’ll definitely watch over and over again!
