Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom

Samaira gives insight on the new AquaMan movie

DC studios brings the sequel to Aquaman 2018, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is set to be released on December 22, 2023. Black Manta, one of the antagonists in the last movie, seeks revenge on Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa, by using a weapon that can destroy Atlantis. Aquaman has to form an unlikely alliance with his half brother, King Orm, to defeat Black Manta and save Atlantis.

This movie takes place right after Aquaman 2019, where Aquaman defeated his half brother, King Orm, to prevent him from forming alliances with the seven underwater kingdoms to destroy the surface world. Aquaman not only has to deal with Black Manta, but also being a King, a member of the Justice League, a father and a husband. His wife, Mera, who was previously played by Amber Heard, is going to be replaced by Emilia Clarke because of her court battle against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.

From the trailers you can see that Aquaman’s son has developed the ability to start talking to fishes even though he is very young at the moment. Black Manta will kidnap the child as revenge as he blames Aquaman for the death of his father. Interestingly when coming to the realization that he needs Aquaman’s bloodline for his mission, he decides to kidnap the very thing closest to Aquaman’s heart, his child.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is going to be released on December 22, 2023, right around the Christmas week. The movie is planned to be the last movie of the DCEU where the first movie began with Man of Steel (2013). There is going to be a new DC universe under the supervision of co-CEOS James Gunn and Peter Safran and they are going to release a new Superman movie in 2025 where Henry Cavill is going to be replaced by David Corenswet.
