"Rise of Skywalker" and the Rise of Audience Expectations

The release of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” on December 20, 2019, causes fans new and old to be excited about the newest addition to the Star Wars franchise. Wrapping up the latest trilogy, “The Rise of Skywalker,” directed by J.J. Abrams, is set to be another action-packed movie that viewers will enjoy.

Long-time fans will be excited to watch the newest edition to the Star Wars franchise. “The Rise of Skywalker” has brought much talk after its first premiere. Fans have high expectations for the third installment in the latest trilogy after the success of the first two films. Beautiful graphics, a complex plot, and an amazing show of character development are just some of the elements for which fans are itching. Trailers for the movie suggest the appearances of several past antagonists like Darth Vadar and Emperor Palpatine. The combination of new characters and older favorites makes both older and younger fans anxious to see. Viewers are also excited about the final dynamic between the main protagonist and antagonist, Rey and Kylo Ren respectively, with hopes for a final standoff between the two, whose on and off rivalry and companionship has the audience dying to see what becomes of them.

New viewers to the Star Wars franchise may not have as high expectations for the new (and final) movie Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but still expect an action-packed film. New viewers may not care much about the characters as many long-time fans do, but with it being the last movie of the Starwalker saga, the stakes are very high for “The Rise of Skywalker.” While new fans may not be expecting a movie that has an intense plot, especially if they haven’t seen all of the films, viewers still want a high-quality movie.

Star Wars fans of all ages will rush to the movie theater in order to view “The Rise of Skywalker.” No matter what the movie feels like, this film will wrap up a forty year-long saga, and that is an amazing feat.
